Derry City & Strabane District Council has been looking for a new site for the redevelopment of Riversdale Leisure Centre, which is ageing and in need of replacement.
Following a comprehensive site selection process, and an in-depth analysis of need, Council has developed initial proposals for the new Leisure facilities that are to be a component part of the co-location of key public services to the Town Centre Canal Basin area. The Leisure Centre represents a significant additional investment funded by Council and it will be an integral component in the wider vision for this key strategic site in Strabane Town Centre which is planned to be funded by City Deal/IFF.
Climate Change mitigation and sustainability are key considerations in this project, and towards net-zero design principles will be embedded in our proposed building to align with Council’s Climate Pledge.
Public information sessions are being held as follows :-
Wednesday 19 June
10am to 12noon at the Riversdale Leisure Centre
2pm to 4pm at Melvin Sports Complex
6pm - 9pm at the Alley Theatre
Thursday 20 June
10 am to 12 noon at the Riversale Leisure Centre
2pm to 4pm at Melvin Sports Complex
6pm to 9pm at the Alley Theatre.
Drawings and outline designs and images will be available at the information sessions and Council officers will be in attendance to answer questions.
