Proposed Community Recycling Collection Facility at Drumquin Road, Castlederg

Consultation has concluded

Derry City and Strabane District Council is notifying you of its intention to apply to develop a new recycling facility at Drumquin Road, Castlederg, BT81 7HR, in the field adjoining the yard of RJ Rutledge General Merchants.

Proposals include provision of a new recycling centre with access for visitors, collection containers, sheds for collection banks and a staff welfare building and associated parking/landscaping. A new vehicular access will be made from Drumquin Road.

The proposed recycling collection facility will be a collection point for a variety of materials such as garden waste, metals, paints, soils, plastic, electrical items etc. It will only function as a collection point for the materials. The collected materials will then be transported to other locations for re-use, recycling, treatment, and disposal in a manner consistent with the principle of sustainable and safe waste management. The proposed facility will not include any incineration or landfill activities.

This notification relates to the requirement for a 3-month pre-application community consultation period prior to submitting a major planning application of this type, as per the provisions of the Planning Act (Northern Ireland) 2011. Representations should not therefore be made directly to the Planning Service within the Council at this stage. When a planning application is formally submitted to Planning Service, following this 3-month pre-application community consultation period, you will have the opportunity to make representations regarding the proposed development at that time.
