Derry City and Strabane District Council Dual Language Street Naming Policy, Draft Equality Impact Assessment 2024 Derry City and Strabane District Council is seeking the views of the public in relation to a draft equality impact assessment report on the Council&rsquo;s draft new Dual Language Street Naming policy. Council has passed a motion to change the threshold of support for the installation of dual language signage to 15% of residents on the electoral register for the street. Following this decision, a new draft Dual Language Street Naming Policy was developed, and, in line with the commitments in our Equality Scheme, an equality screening was undertaken. The screening report identified that, with mitigations, it does not appear that there will be specific negative impacts on equality of opportunity; the policy may indeed help to further the aims of the Good Relations duty by promoting a better understanding of the linguistic diversity which exists within the Council area. However, it was also concluded that it would be useful to carry out a detailed equality impact assessment, which would include a public consultation, to inform the final policy and identify whether any further mitigations are required. Council would now like to hear your views in relation to the draft EQIA document. Please submit your feedback by completing the survey. Consultation on Draft Improvement Objectives 2024/2025

Derry City and Strabane District Council want to understand the barriers for people being active and involved in sport. We are keen to learn more from non-active people, especially those in underrepresented groups. By understanding the barriers, actions to address them are likely to be more effective. We aim to identify what barriers people are facing that excludes or limits their opportunities to participate fully in Sport and Physical Activity. As part of this process it is anticipated consultation events are carried out in each of the 7 District Election Areas (DEAs).
